Yogi Bear cartoon character

Yogi Bear is an animated character created by Hannah Barbera.

Yogi debuted in 1958 as a minor character in The Huckleberry Greyhound Show. He gained great popularity and in 1961 received his own show. Over the years, he has appeared in many other animated series, including The Yoga Gang (1973), The Space Yoga Race (1978), The Yogi Treasure Hunt (1985), and Yo! Yogi ”(1991).

From 1958 until his death in 1988, legendary voice actor Dawes Butler played Yogi. As with many of Hannah-Barbara's characters, the personality and manners of the Yogi are borrowed from a famous person from the time he was created. Art Carney's character from The Newlyweds is considered the prototype of Yogi. Yogi's name is apparently taken from the famous baseball star Yogi Bera.

The action in most of the Yogi cartoons takes place around his home in the fictional "Yellowstone Park" (named after the famous Yellowstone National Park). Yogi, accompanied by his best friend Boo-Boo, often tries to steal picnic baskets from park visitors, much to the dismay of Forester Smith.

The Yogi bear is known for his easy-to-remember expressions, including his name for picnic baskets ("pic-a-nic baskets", which went somewhat unnoticed in the Bulgarian translation) and his favorite self-proclaimed title ("I'm smarter than the average." bear!").
